The Truth About An Awning

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:09 pm

Saturday, while packing up to return from my camping trip, I noticed a large dent in the arms of my RV awning. I didn’t pay any attention to it at first because the damage looked old. I saw my wife watching me examine it out of the corner of my eye. She had a very peculiar look upon her face as if she was sneaking and watching me. I turned around and looked at her directly and then she briskly walked the other way. I knew right away that there was more to the dent than met the eye. While putting up my lounge chairs, my youngest son Justin ran into me. While he was laying on the ground I asked him if he knew anything about the dent and he said, “Mommy told me to keep my mouth shut!”

That night as I was tucking into bed, I asked Margaret about the dent. She paused for a brief moment and then breathed out a sigh as if she was scared to tell me what had happened. Then then started explaining how our kids were stick fighting and she had told them to hit something other than each other. One of her examples just so happened to be the awning. She gave them choices between a tree or the arms. She then said how she regretted it, and that she thought aluminum was more durable than that. I had previously bought my new RV awning and hardware a month before our trip, so I guess that’s why she thought I was going to be angry.

After her unnecessary apology, I gave her a hug and got right back online at RV Parts Country where we had originally ordered the awning and got a new set of arms. They finally arrived this Tuesday morning and went ahead and took my RV down to my local dealership to get a reinstallation. I wasn’t angry with my wife that she had lead my children to the destruction of my awning, but I was a bit upset that she didn’t come to me right away with the problem. I think that is why she felt so bad about it herself. I’m just glad I got the truth and a new awning so fast!

RV Showers Matter Most

There are so many times in my camping experiences that made me wish I had an RV shower. The first camper I ever owned did not have a shower, inside or out. This was very frustrating, because the camper provided me with everything else I needed for extended stays in pretty much any location. I just know that there were so many times I wanted to have a shower, because I’d been camping for days, but I couldn’t bathe.

The second camper I bought had an RV shower, but it was an outside shower. This actually was an improvement, and there were plenty of times in the warmer months when I enjoyed an outside shower after a hot day hiking through the countryside. But in the winter, the outside shower was useless.

Then finally, with my last RV upgrade, I got a fifth-wheel that had a shower inside. Now I can take a shower whenever I want, and that has made my camping experiences even better. I can drive all over the country, north, south, east, or west, winter or summer, and I can have a shower whenever I want.

Don’t downplay the importance of an RV shower when you make your first RV purchase. It is even more important than the RV kitchen, in my opinion! I can always hunt my own food!

Honda Generators Are Ear Friendly!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:38 am

For the past 25 years, I’ve been into the concreting and construction line of business. Most people consider me a contractor though. In my last project, the man hired my crew to work after dark since he worked day shift. This made pouring the footer extremely difficult without a lot of lighting. There wasn’t any electricity hooked up yet on his property, so I brung my two generators and one of my employees brought his. We had a really good light display going on, but the noise was just unbearable. It was also a pain to have to move the heavy generators from one place to another. Mason, one of my employees, recommend that we invest in the new Honda generators that are so quite and portable. I hadn’t ever heard of them, but apparently they are lightweight and extremely quiet for a generator.

After the second night of noise, I decided to get online and find some information on the Honda generators. After I found the information I needed, I decided I would order two of the EU2000i generators, and one of the EU3000is Honda generators. When I got to looking for prices, I ran into some people selling them at an rv parts store known as RV Parts Country. I went ahead and gave them a call the next morning to discuss the price and they had them at a better deal than anyone. They shipped it that day and I recieved the next via Fed Ex. I was quite excited, as was my employees, because everywhere we’d worked people had been mentioning how nice the Honda generators were.

So once I took the Honda generators back on the work site, my employees all crowded around to see. They were looking at them as if they were 5 year olds at a toy store. I went ahead and put gas in one of the EU2000i’s and started it up. Everyone ghasped for air when they saw how quiet it was. I instantly called my wife on the cell to let her hear it. She too was amazed because for once she could actually hear what I was saying on the phone while a generator was running. We ran those babies all night on 5 gallons of fuel and could hear everything that was being said to one another. It was a miracle. I have to thank Honda for making these ear friendly generators!

Dometic Duo Therm Saved Me

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 9:46 am

Don’t you just hate going camping without an A/C unit on board? Well, I sure do! Last time my wife and I went camping she almost had a heat stroke. We sat with the windows let out hoping and praying for some sort of breeze to blow in while watching the home shopping channel. My father-in-law was supposed to have given us his Air Conditioner the summer before, but he ended up trading it to a set of tires for his truck. Nothing seems worse than sitting in a heat box in the middle of the woods watching the other campers relaxing under their A/C units.

I finally broke down a couple of months ago and bought a Dometic Duo Therm  air conditioning unit from a place called RV Parts Country. My kids were going on and on about how they never get to go camping and if I was going to go camping again, I was going to have some sort of cooling unit! They are young, so it doesn’t matter to them if they have one or not. To me and their mother, it matters a great deal.

When we pulled into the campsite, I noticed there was one couple sitting there like I use to do. Sweating, with a fan blowing is how I use to spend my camping trips. Now, I just sit back and relax with my feet propped up on the foot stool and enjoy myself while the kids are running around outside shooting their squirt pistols at one another. Frequently I get up to go outside to flip some burgers on the grill, but I run back inside and sit down infront of the A/C before I get too hot. I’m just thankful for technology!

Tight Guys Finish Last

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:00 pm

My Daddy always told me that I was a tight wad when it came to making purchases of items that wasn’t necessary. I always begged to differ, but when my wife started accusing me of the same thing after we got married, I started to believe it myself. She even said that I was the one who ruined our honey moon due to me not wanting to spend an extra one hundred dollars to get the nicer hotel. This was some what true, seeing that the hotel I rented had roaches and had convicts running back and forth infront of the rooms all night long.

Now, 14 good years later, being a “tight wad” had finally paid off. I have all the luxuries of life that a man could want. I live in a nice big house on the hill, and every year my family and I take a vacation to South Carolina to see the beach in our motorhome. At the end of next week, we will depart these mountains of Kentucky and journey towards the Atlantic for some quality family time. The local weather station keeps saying how we will be experiencing a heat wave the size of Texas, so this kind of worries me a bit. My children hate being out in the heat, as does their parents. There isn’t much to do in a motorhome, but watch television. My wife has been nagging me to buy a new WineGard Carryout portable satellite, but my old “tight wad” instincts start kicking back in when she mentions it.

After discussing it with her this morning, she kept throwing the past back up in my face so I decided I would buy one, if I could find it in the price range I was willing to pay. I finally found RV Parts Country while searching the web and they apparently had it for the best price. I went ahead and ordered it and now all I have to do is wait 4 short days. This seems easy enough, but we will find out when it comes. My children are excited to get all of these new stations with the satellite. They think there will be more stations in my motorhome than in the house, but we shall find out!

Needing A Water Pump In The Swamplands!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:25 pm

Camping in the swamplands of Louisiana was probably one of the best ideas I’ve ever had. The scenery was so beautiful and the southern foods were phenominal. We went out to a BBQ at one of the boat ramps with some friends to eat some roast alligator with the locals. My wife decided that we should clean up and dress like we were some kind of professionals. I went in to take a shower first since my wife uses up all of the hot water, but the pressure was so weak. It was just getting weaker and weaker by the second. My first thought was that we were out of water, so I checked it. To my surprise, the tanks were full. My next guess was our water pump. Sure enough, that was our problem.

After washing off with a rag in a pan of water, we went on to our dinner. When we got back that night, we tried to find any local RV dealers and supplies, but there wasn’t any around the campsite we were in. We were only going to be there for 4 more days, but we really needed to find a pump. We got to searching for online dealers to see who had the fastest shipping and ran into RV Parts Country. They emailed me that they could have it to us before we departed, so we went ahead and ordered.

Two days later, Fed Ex came knocking on the door and I knew my Shur-Flo water pump was here! I was so excited to get it. Washing in a pan was really making me feel like people must’ve felt back in the 1940’s. I went straight ahead and hooked up my pump to test it out. My wife rushed infront of me to get a shower, which she really needed. I could here her give this big sigh of relief while she was in there. I yelled, “How do you like it?” and got the reply of, “Its better than ever!” Thanks to RV Parts Country, we are still smelling great and ready to go on our next adventure!

I Hate Trees

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:45 pm

My Grandpa use to tell me when I was a boy that bad luck comes in spurts. His favorite phrase was, “When it rains, it pours.” Last week, I actually experienced what he was talking about. While I was sitting at the table eating breakfast, I noticed that on the weather station I was watching, it was giving severe thunder storm warnings. I had everything sitting out where it was going to get soaked, so I went ahead and stuck it in under my awning to keep it out of the weather.

While laying in bed, I heard noises that could only be heard in a horror movie. I was glad that I left my awning out, so that everything was safe from harm. About an hour later after dosing off, there was a really loud thud that woke me up. After rushing out of bed, I realized that leaving my awning out wasn’t the best idea I’d ever had. A tree had fell and crashed right through it. It pretty well destroyed my furniture and grill that was in under my awning as well. I wasn’t even thinking when I set the stuff beneath it, because I really needed to roll it up.

After complaining about it to my wife for two weeks, I decided I’d quit being such a penny pincher and buy another one. I gave right at a thousand dollars for that set up, but I actually found one for right at half the price. I found RV Parts Country and bought the arms and replacement awning all at an awesome price. If anything good came out of this, it was that I learned to take better care of my things and quit being so lazy when it comes to getting stuff out of the weather.

RV Parts Paradise

I love my camper. There is nothing like an RV. Everywhere I go, even when I’m not on a vacation, I drive my RV. That sounds crazy to some folks, but I don’t mind. I really love having it with me at all times, so if I suddenly decide to go on a trip, I’m already prepared and ready to go!

Whenever I have had to work on my camper, which has happened from time to time since I use it so much, I have had to buy some new RV parts. I know that you probably have your own favorite place to buy your RV parts, but I guarantee you don’t have a retailer as awesome as my favorite: RV Parts Country!

First of all, they’re always online, so you can order parts on the internet from them any time you want. But if you need assistance ordering, you can call them during the day and they will gladly assist you.

Another great thing about RV Parts Country is their selection of RV parts and accessories. They have about 10,000 parts to choose from, and their variety grows bigger each week. I love having so many options when it comes to picking out my parts. And then there’s the shipping costs and speed. Wow! I have ordered some really bulky RV parts from them and had to pay very little for shipping, and my order arrived within a couple of days! That’s one of my favorite aspects of their site. They ship FAST.

And then there’s, of course, the prices of the items. I have never seen any website or real-world store where you can buy RV parts as inexpensively as you can here.

So go to RV Parts Country today and get some shopping done!

Let’s Go Fishin’!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:50 am

What better to do than go fishing in the Bahamas with your family for my yearly vacation. I have been taking this trip since my son Evan has been six years old. He is now 17, and an excellent fisherman like his old man. Throughout the year we go to lakes on my bass boat and while we’re there we talk about our big trip to the Bahamas. Down at my dock, I have my pontoon waiting for us year round. We always invite a few extra friends along for the trip as well to make it a little more interesting.

One thing I’ve been looking into buying is the Honda generators. One of my colleagues at the office claims how quiet they are and how he uses them on his boat. He bought two of the EU 2000i Honda generators and linked them together using a parallel kit to make a 4000 watt generator to run his 15k A/C unit. Mine is only a 13.5k, so I figured the EU3000is would be more than enough power for that. I really love fishing, and its a known fact that noise will scare the fish off. My last generator I bought sounded like a factory running and made concentration extremely difficult. It seemed like I would wake up with a headache every morning from that thing.

After reading about how quiet they are and how portable they are, I’m going to place my order for one. I browsed around earlier today to see who had the best deal running and ran into this website called RV Parts Country. Apparently they ship the day of the purchase and register them too. I’m going to place my order today so I can get it in time for my vacation. I’ve got six days left in the office here, and then I’ll be gone for two weeks. I can’t wait to get my Honda generator and show it off to my friends at the docks. When they see how quiet it is, they think I’ve got the coolest item on the market!

RV Water Pumps At My Service!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:00 pm

There was a time when my water flowed so smoothly with such a great force. I love sitting in the shower and letting the water pound me in the face. Nothing beats the small massage of hot water in the morning!

This Spring I was sitting in my shower and soaking up some of the pressure, when I noticed the force of the water was getting weaker and weaker. This started to worry me, but I sat and relaxed a little longer. When I went to turn on my faucet to shave, the water pressure was just extremely low. I knew right away it had to be my RV water pump. I wasn’t as bummed about this as most people would be, but it was only because I knew of the right place to go to. This place is known as RV Parts Country.

For all of my camping needs, I always go to this website to find my parts that I need. Last summer I had to get a whole new awning due to a tree in a wind storm falling through it. They actually shipped the whole new set of stuff I needed in less than three days. I figured it would take it at least two or three weeks, but I was wrong thankfully. When I got my new RV water pump I went ahead and got it installed it. It actually had a better PSI than my old one. This really excited me. I got RV Parts Country to thank for their large selection of parts to choose from!
