It’s funny how something so simple can make such a big difference.
No matter how close or far from home we may be in our camper, we have noticed that there are just certain little things that really make us feel like we’re on vacation. Of all the RV accessories we could buy, and this may seem a bit funny, the best investment we ever made (as far as RV accessories go) was in our globe lights which we hang from our awning every time we camp.
These lights are surprisingly large, brightly colored, and very appealing to look at. They add a certain tone to our cookouts and get-togethers around our RV, and they really do add some atmosphere which helps us feel like we’re on a vacation, even if we’re just camping close to home.
After having those lights for so many trips, we were really disheartened on one campout in particular, because I somehow forgot to pack the lights before we left home. You would think that something like a few colored lights wouldn’t be so important, but as soon as we had set up our dining area beneath our awning, and the sun began to set, we all got kind of quiet for a moment. My son, who is nine, suddenly blurted out, “Daddy? Where are the lights?”
We all laughed for a moment as I admitted I’d forgotten them, but I could tell that everyone was kind of sad that we had no decorations for our awning.
So, later that night when everyone was sleeping, I sneaked outside, got online with our laptop, and placed an order with RV Parts Country. I ordered new lights, and I put in the address of the RV park where we were camping as the shipping destination.
I didn’t even mention this to my family, since I wanted to surprise them.
The next day, I received an email notifying me they had already shipped, and would you believe this–bright and and early on the following morning, we had a new set of globe lights brought right to us!!! My family was more than thrilled, and we all got together, opened the box, and immediately began hanging the lamps around the awning.
